A home to call my own
It's official.
As of Wednesday, February 28th 2007, Amanda and I became home owners. We closed around 10AM that morning, with the process taking roughly 2 hours to complete. After the closing was complete, we went to have a celebratory lunch and headed to the house to clean and change out the locks.

The new Engelking homestead.
We moved on Saturday, March 3rd. It was a cold and dismal day ... which is no surprise because for some reason any day I choose to move there is some kind of weather event. It was snowing very heavily, however there was no accumulation to speak of. The move began at 10AM and lasted for roughly 2 hours. We had gotten rid of a large majority of furniture and other belongings we didn't need or no longer wanted, so it made the move go that much faster.
After it was all said and done, we went out to Jerry's J-Boy on Dixie Highway to celebrate our move in. The food was good, as was the company we kept. Overall, it was a good day.

That's a wonderful home. Congratulations to both of you! There's no doubt all your hard work and dedication are deserving!

Thanks a bunch. We're still in the process of getting everything unpacked, but I have a lot of great plans for the future. I'll be putting up photos of the changes I make as I go.

Edo...congrats good sir, congrats. While I'm just now begining the whole married life with renting, we started out by actually looking for a house to buy. We're going to wait until I get back and see where things are going from there.
Glad to see such good things comeing to you...try not to party it up too much, it looks like a real nice pad.

Thanks a bunch, buddy boy. I can highly recommend buying a home. Since you're in the military, you can get all kinds of good loans. Keep that in mind when you come back in 7 months from Iraq. :)

Thanks buddy. We're getting close to getting everything in place. I'm on vacation next week and plan to do some work on the house. Nothing too major, just some things like painting and general fix-ups. I've already worked on the toilets and furnace to get them up to snuff (nothing major, just a few minor upgrades to conserve on water and energy). :)
